Starwood is partnering Urbanedge Hotels to develop its aloft brand of hotels in India with the first two to open in Bangalore and Chennai.
aloft Bangalore, Whitefield, opens in 2010 with 170 rooms and more than 8,500 sq ft of meeting space. The hotel will be located in Whitfield, one of the city’s two major IT clusters and home to several IT parks and an export promotion zone.
aloft Chennai, OMR – Sholinganallur, also opens in 2010. It will have 140 rooms and over 5,000 sq ft of meeting space. The hotel will be located on the Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR), the hub for IT development in Chennai.
“Its exotic landscapes, rich cultural heritage and booming economy make India one of the world’s most vibrant markets and a perfect match for the energy and vitality of aloft hotels,” Brian McGuinness, Vice President of aloft and element hotels, said.
Starwood has recently announced the entry of its Sheraton and Westin brands into India.
