Craig Pike, head of American Express Business Travel Advisory Services Japan, Asia Pacific and Australia said the flattening of airfares over the period “coincides with carriers operating a record number of flights to, from and within the region.”
Business class airfares increased by 2% over the quarter and 6% over the year, largely driven by routes to the Americas which were up 12% for business class and 10% across other fare types.
In Singapore airfares increased 3% for the year led by 6% in first class, 4% in economy and 2% in business. Domestic routes in SIN remained flat for the quarter and year.
