Corporate travel giant Alshamel has said its sales were not impacted by recent British Airways strikes but believes the UK airline’s reputation took a “battering”.”Corporate travellers do not take kindly to the label of ‘industrial dispute’ and such travellers also have elephantine memories (they never forget),” said Director Industry Partnerships Mano Chandra Dhas (pictured).”BA’s reputation took another battering and now of course, we have the volcanic disruption - yet another blade in BA’s guts.”Dhas said he had “no empathy for BA cabin crew”.”To hold the carrier and clients to ransom during times of dire economic fallout, was unforgivable,” he said. He said the strike action had no impact on sales as there was advanced notice and Alshamel switched business to other airlines.”When it comes to corporate travel, passengers always prefer direct flights and frequency of operation is also often a major consideration, so you can guess who was the most popular alternative carrier out of Dubai to London,” he said.
