Tourism Ireland, VisitBritain and VisitScotland hosted the first of three workshops in the UAE this week to showcase Britain’s travel and tourism offering. The tourism boards have deemed the first workshop a success as the UAE travel trade showed their support. “We are delighted by the strong turnout on our first day with the UAE travel trade,” said Aiveen Ryan, market manager of Tourism Ireland. “It indicates the interest in the destinations of Ireland, Britain and Scotland is strong with agents.” Tourism Ireland is focusing on three messages to the trade throughout the workshop. These are the family-friendly nature of Ireland, its ease of access from the UK and its easy-going, safe atmosphere. “The UK and Ireland remain popular destinations for Middle East travellers,” said Carol Maddison, UAE manager of Visit Britain. “It is important to engage the travel trade to increase their knowledge of the destinations and what is on offer for visitors planning a trip in 2011.”
