A delegation of tourism officials from Bulgaria visited India this week, with the aim of improving bilateral relations.
The Eastern European country’s Minister of Tourism, Nikolina Angelkova, met with her Indian counterpart, Dr Mahesh Sharma, in Delhi, where they discussed the promotion of tourism in both countries.
According to India’s Ministry of Tourism, Dr Sharma assured Ms Angelkova of “the cooperation of his ministry in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries”, and said that all avenues would be explored for the promotion of tourism.
The visit follows India’s hosting of a seminar for travel agents in Bulgaria’s capital, Sofia, in November 2014. This event was attended by 69 Bulgarian agents and offered insights into the Indian tourism market, its destinations, products and attractions.
Tourism between Bulgaria and India is hindered however, by a lack of direct air connectivity between the two countries.
