Chiang Mai Zoo plans to extend panda stay

One of Thailand’s most famous residents may be granted permission to stay in the kingdom a little longer. The Nation newspaper reported yesterday that Thai authorities are in talks with their Chinese counterparts to keep Lin Ping, the panda currently residing at Chiang Mai Zoo, in the country after the initial agreement expires in May. Thailand hopes that Lin Ping, who has her own TV channel and regularly draws large crowds to the zoo, will be able to stay for a further two years.
