Amadeus has signed a major new agreement with the China Travel Service, to provide IT services to the company’s agencies and offices in Hong Kong.
Under the terms of the deal, China Travel Service will adopt a selection of Amadeus’ e-commerce, front office and online solutions at all its travel agencies in Hong Kong.
These new solutions include a bespoke front-end retailing application, with tools designed to speed up search, booking and sales processes. China Travel Service will also use the Amadeus Master Pricer solution, which is designed to search for the lowest fares. In addition, the new systems will allow manual tasks to be automated, in an effort to boost agent productivity.
“The traditional travel agency business has become more challenging and we face stiff competition from direct suppliers as well as online channels. By evolving our technology, we can adapt to these challenges to facilitate future business growth. We see Amadeus as instrumental to transforming our business operations and improving efficiency,” said Yeung Chi Kwan, business director at China Travel Service’s hotel reservation & ticketing centre.
Leon Herce, Amadeus Asia Pacific’s vice president of commercial distribution, called the agreement a “major milestone” for his company, and said it demonstrates Amadeus’ “focus on delivering technology that is critical to the evolving needs of today’s travel agencies”.
China Travel Service is one of the largest travel agents in Hong Kong, covering a range of services from package tours and ticketing to visas processing.
