Sir Howard Davies visited ABTA for a breakfast briefing this morning (5 February) to discuss the importance of flight connectivity and the leisure travel market.
Davies, who is chairman of the Airports Commission, comes after a poll of MPs by the association found seven out of 10 MPs think the UK is at risk of being left behind competitively.
The meeting focused on the leisure market highlighting tourism’s impact on the economy.
“ABTA fully supports the call for increased aviation capacity. The fact is that aviation is a major asset to the UK economy as a wealth creator and a job creator,” said Mark Tanzer, chief executive of ABTA. “Business and leisure travel are inextricably linked; developing a single plan that delivers for both sectors is the best way to ensure maximum economic benefit.”
