The inquisition into the licensing of fraudulent pilots in India continues with the formation of a 12 member committee charged with uncovering the involvement of insiders in the scam. The committee has six weeks to file a report on the issue and make recommendations on how to tighten-up examination and certification procedures. According to the Business Standard, the committee comprises members from the civil aviation ministry, Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), representatives from the Indian Air Force, Air India and National Informatics Centre, as well as independent aviation analysts. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is now on a witch-hunt to find all perpetrators involved in the licensing scam and to tighten up the whole procedure. It has initiated an overhaul of the entire system and is looking at appointing a third party to scrutinise pilot training academies and the conduct of DGCA officials as well. Some changes, like additional tests, have already been agreed and authorities have asked for cooperation of the airlines in vetting pilots. Six arrests have been made in the case so far including two IndiGo pilots, one Air India pilot.
