Disneyland Paris has appointed official Royal Wedding photographer, Hugo Burnand as its first-ever photographer in residence. Burnand, who snapped the big day of HRH Prince William and Catherine Middleton, will take up his first commission at the Paris resort from 12th-15th August 2011, where he will be photographing six families a day.
The appointment comes on the back of research commissioned by Disneyland Paris that revealed that 82% of UK parents miss out on capturing a family photo when on holiday, because one family member, usually the father, is at the other end of the lens. The research also found that more than half of British families do not have a single photo of the whole family from their last holiday, even though one in five family holidays are now the only time that the whole family is together.
“For me, photographing a family is all about creating and capturing a magical moment. A family photograph is a point in time in the life of that family which can be treasured forever. I am looking forward, through this commission with Disneyland Paris, to creating a unique series of family portraits,” said Burnand, who also photographed the wedding of David and Samantha Cameron, as well as likes of Victoria Beckham, Michael Jackson and other members of the Royal Family.
Ginger Taggart, Executive Marketing Director for Disney Destinations International UK said; “Photography captures the lasting memory of a holiday and is such an important part of a family’s trip. However, we understand that many families return home without having one great shot of the whole family together – so our photographer in residence is designed to help in a small way. And who better to capture the magic than Hugo Burnand, who captured the most magical moment of the 2011.”
