Early take-off for Emirates’ second London A380
2nd June, 2010 - Emirates’ second daily A380 service from Heathrow to Dubai will take off two weeks earlier than planned on 15th June following the early delivery of the airline’s newest ‘superjumbo’.
The A380 will operate on Emirates’ 2040hrs (EK004) service from Heathrow. The airline currently operates the A380 on its 1415hrs departure (Flight EK002) from Heathrow. The airline operates a total of five return flights a day from Heathrow to Dubai.
Conrad Clifford, Emirates’ Vice President UK & Ireland, says: “Our passengers are giving the A380 rave reviews and we’re delighted to be able to introduce a second superjumbo service from London earlier than planned.”
On 1st September, Emirates will also introduce a daily A380 service from Manchester to Dubai - the first time an airline has operated the ‘superjumbo’ from a regional airport.
Emirates first introduced the A380 on to services from Heathrow in December 2008, equipped with an Onboard Lounge and Onboard Shower Spas, the only airline in the world to offer this amenity.
The giant 517-seat aircraft offers 14 flat-bed First Class Private Suites with electrically operated doors, 76 fully-flat seats in Business Class – all with mini bars and aisle access, and 427 comfortable contoured seats in Economy Class – spread across four roomy cabins on the lower deck.
Emirates’ award-winning ice entertainment system is available throughout the aircraft and offers more than 1200 channels of on-demand entertainment. This includes 200 movies from around the world, 100 TV channels, more than 500 audio channels, 100 video games and BBC news, sports and business headlines.
A personal satellite phone is fitted to each seat, which also carries a seat-back sms and email service, along with seat to seat calling and a “My USB” personal picture viewing facility.
Emirates currently operates nine A380s. In addition to Heathrow, they fly to Auckland, Bangkok, Jeddah, Paris, Seoul, Sydney and Toronto. It will operate the A380 daily to Beijing from 01st August, from Manchester from 1st September, and re-introduce the aircraft onto services to and from New York (JFK) from 31st October, 2010.
