Ecuador accelerates tourism opportunities in UAE

The South American nation of Ecuador has taken significant steps in attracting investments from the UAE towards its tourism sector. PRO ECUADOR, the trade and Investment promotion organisation of Ecuador, has collaborated with the Department of Economic Development – Government of Dubai in organizing the ‘Con-necting with Ecuador’ trade forum.
The event witnessed participation from 160 business leaders from the UAE. His Excellency Juan Francisco Ballen Mancero, vice minister of Foreign Trade Policies and Services of the Ecuadorian Ministry of International Trade said: “The UAE has been a growing trading partner of Ecuador for the last years. With the vast potential presented by the tourism, we are hoping to stir keen interest from UAE businesses to explore huge investment opportunities in these sectors.”
His Excellency Sami Al Qamzi, director general of DED said: “With fast-emerging sectors like Islamic economy and clean technologies now, a high priority in Dubai’s economic diversification strategy and the city hosting the World Expo in 2020 there will be infinite new opportunities in Dubai. We invite investors and businesses in Ecuador to capitalise on this emerging picture.”
On the tourism front, Ecuador is famous for its biodiversity and natural tourism attractions, which includes renowned Galápagos National Park – a World Heritage Site declared by UNESCO. This sector has also been a key driving force behind the country’s 4.9% Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth rate registered in the first quarter of this year.
