Flight Centre Travel Group are looking for a Software Engineer (Full Stack) to join the team! In this role, you will be responsible for the development, testing, and release of in-house applications across the EAM product pillars. The focus is on backend systems with occasional work on the frontend. The role’s purpose is to craft high-quality software that is user-friendly, resilient, scalable, maintainable, and adds value for EAM customers.  

A day in the life…  

Build efficient, testable, and maintainable solutions with the right balance between solving the problem at hand and not over engineering your solution. 

Work across the entire stack and help transition our applications to a cloud native, containerized, clustered, micro-services architecture. 

Write backend code in Java and the Spring Framework. 

Write frontend code in TypeScript, JavaScript, and the React Framework. 

Write database scripts in T-SQL and PL/SQL. 

Collaborate in our cross-functional pillars to plan and deliver high quality solutions in a fast-paced, agile environment. 

Take initiative and always look for ways to improve the quality of our solutions, code bases, technical debt, standards, processes, and best practices. 

Own the quality of what we build, through testing, test automation, and observability to ensure operational reliability and performance. 

Maintain and improve the documentation across our code bases, architectures, and knowledge bases. 

Be a participant in the global engineering community and improve our practice across the company. 

  

Who you are…  

At least 3 years of professional experience in software development. 

Professional experience as a Software Engineer working across frontend and backend systems. 

A proven track record in leading by example in code quality, system architecture, and technical standards. 

A passion for supporting and enabling others to continuously improve and be more productive. 

Advanced knowledge of Java and the Spring Framework. 

Advanced knowledge of the Jakarta Persistence API with Hibernate. 

Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle database management systems. 

Knowledge of TypeScript, JavaScript, and the Facebook React Framework. 

  

Desirable… 

Knowledge of automated testing technologies such as JUnit, Cypress, and Selenium. 

Knowledge of software telemetry analysis and observability technologies such as Splunk, Nagios, and Azure Monitor. 

Knowledge of the Azure cloud. 

Experience with DevOps tooling and practices. 

Experience maintaining compliance posture across systems. 

  

Key Communication & Relationships… 

Enterprise Application management team – Product Owners, Solution Architect. 

Other Enterprise Technical Service teams. 

Other Flight Centre Software engineering teams across other product pillars. 

Vendors (as required).
