Fiji Link, the regional subsidiary of Fiji Airways, will welcome its first brand new ATR 42-600 aircraft in August.
The recently rebranded airline, which was formerly known as Pacific Sun, welcomed its first new ATR 72-600 in June 2014, and will soon follow this up with the addition of a second new turboprop.
The ATR 42-600 is the new version of the ATR 42 series, offering 44 seats. Fiji Link already operates two older ATR 72-500s.
“We have a robust plan to modernise the Fiji Link fleet to more efficiently serve the domestic market as well as the South Pacific,” said Fiji Airways’ group managing director & CEO, Stefan Pichler.
“This incoming 600-series ATR 42 is a step-up from the current 500-series that Fiji Link operates. Following the arrival of this brand new aircraft along with another ATR 72-600 for Fiji Link in December, the two current ATR 42-500s will exit the fleet. So overall, we will significantly increase Fiji Link capacity this year with state-of-the-art new ATR aircraft.”
Fiji Link currently operates a fleet of ATR turboprops on domestic and regional routes to destinations including Tonga, Samoa and Tuvalu.
