A luxury resort in Fiji has taken its range of guest activities to new heights – or depths – with the launch of private submarine rides.
The Laucala Island Resort has introduced a ‘Deep Flight Super Falcon’ submarine, offering guests the chance to explore the underwater world off the Fijian coast.
The futuristic two-seater sub will take guests down to depths of around 18 metres at the island’s inner reef. Here they will be able to view the surrounding ocean habitant, including tropical fish, turtles, leopard sharks and stingrays, through 360-degree domes.
“We are proud to have worked with Hawkes Ocean Technologies to deliver this remarkable service to our guests. This technology is innovative and we are confident that guests will never have seen anything like it. The submarine adventure is unparalleled and unforgettable,” commented the resort’s general manager, Andrew Thomson.
“The pristine waters of Laucala are among the most clear in the world with a plethora of sea life, we’re delighted to introduce these waters in a premium one-on-one experience to our guests.”
The submarine experience would usually costs US$2,000 per person per hour, but Laucala operates an all-inclusive policy that includes a range of water-based activities including sailing, diving and sea fishing.
The addition of submarine rides will only boost Laucala’s already impressive reputation was one of the world’s most exclusive resorts, where 350 staff are employed to take care of just 25 villas – the highest staff-to-guest ratio in the world.
