Finnair has posted an 11.6% rise in passengers carried in the year so far compared to the same period last year. The airline carried more than 5.3 million travellers between January and August this year, although its load factor dropped 3.8% to 74% due to changes in capacity. “In August, leisure travel continued at a high level, which improved passenger load factors in intra-European and leisure traffic,” explained Erno Hilden, CFO at Finnair. “Holiday travellers also improved the load factors on North American flights”. He added that travel demand between Europe and Japan remained slow for the carrier. “Travel demand from Japan to Europe has almost returned to its earlier levels, and load factors are good on our routes to Japan,” added Hilden.
