Forest fire heads towards sacred Chinese mountain

A forest fire in eastern China’s Shandong province is spreading toward Mount Tai – one of the country’s five sacred mountains – Xinhua has reported. More than 300 firefighters have been deployed to deal with the blaze, but strong winds are said to be fanning the flames. Mount Tai, which is also known as the Jade Emperor Peak, holds historical and cultural significance in China.
