The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) is moving ahead strategically with its Emiratisation program. Two new two Emirati air traffic controllers qualified to undertake their new job as air traffic controller in Sheikh Zayed Air Navigation Center in Abu Dhabi.
“UAE GCAA has been keen on developing an integrated program of Emiratisation. This was evident with the recruitment of a total of 30 UAE nationals working as air traffic controller as well as 16 trainees at various stages of the training program,” said HE Saif Al Suwaidi, director general, GCAA.
Elaborating further Ahmed Al Jallaf, executive director of Air Navigation Services, said that the civil aviation authority is constantly attracting UAE nationals. The association has also launched a campaign to promote the profession and encourage young Emiratis to join the training program.
The centre today handles more than 2000 air traffic movements per day for the eight international airports in the UAE as well as the over flying movements. The centre hosts eight air traffic sectors and a ninth one is planned for December 2013 as well as the Approach air traffic services to Al Ain International airport.
