The government has extended by one year the process of releasing expat pilots employed by India’s airlines. Foreign pilots can now remain on the payrolls of airlines until 31 July 2011. The previous deadline was due to expire on 31 July this year. Civil Aviation Minister, Praful Patel, said in Parliament that the number of such pilots was decreasing, as more Indian pilots were being inducted into the airlines.
