More event organisers in Singapore are heading the environmental call, incorporating green elements into their meetings. According to a Straits Times report, the explosion of green meetings was also the result of companies incorporating eco-friendly ideas into their social responsibility policies.
At their recent meeting, the Singapore Institute of International Affairs, for instance, asked for sugar in bowls, not sachets. It wanted milk and water in jugs, instead of single-serve plastic containers. Local hotel Grand Copthorne Waterfront was quoted saying that they saw about 30 requests for green meetings last year, and has already seen 50 this year through August.
It also added that convention venue Suntec City would host 10 such meetings this year, up from five last year.
