HCMC seeks to double tourism revenue

Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) is planning to double its tourism revenue by 2010, the Vietnam News has reported. The city’s Tourism Association has said it plans to achieve VND46 trillion (US$2.8 billion) in tourism receipts by 2010, approximately double the figure achieved in 2007. The city plans to achieve this by expanding its promotional activities in key growth markets, such as Scandinavia, India and South Africa. So far in 2008 the city has generated VND14.6 trillion (US$913 million) in tourism revenue, up 40% from the same period in 2007.
