Heathrow has ordered extra chocolate eggs for its Easter Treasure Hunt with record numbers of passengers booked to fly over the Bank Holiday weekend.
More than 800,000 passengers are expected to use Heathrow from 3 to 6 April, with 392,592 departing and 411,074 arriving at the airport. The figure shatters the previous record for the Easter period.
The weekend will see a 40% rise in the number of families with small children travelling through the airport.
To celebrate Easter, the airport has planned the following initiatives:
* A digital treasure hunt – passengers will be able to download an App and have some fun before they fly. Once completed participants can visit the Information Desk to pick up a chocolate Easter Egg.
Children can meet and have their photos taken with TV favourite Peppa Pig as she wishes them “bon-voyage” before they check-in.
Families will be able to relax and enjoy their journey to the airport with kids travelling free on the Heathrow Express – the offer applies to children under 16 accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Heathrow’s restaurants will feature special Kids Eat Free menus, high chairs and fun packs in every terminal.
Valet and Meet & Greet parking users will be treated to Cadbury’s Mini Eggs in the console of their cars when they return back to Heathrow from their trip.
Normand Boivin, director of Operations at Heathrow said: “We’re really proud to see such huge numbers travelling through Heathrow this Easter. I wish all our passengers a good journey, which I hope will start with some of the entertainment we have in store at the airport.”
