Hilton Worldwide has signed an agreement with Malaysia-based Taylor’s University to collaborate on a Student Employment Programme (STEP) that offers students the chance to train, and possibly secure a career with, the hotel group.
Under the STEP Partnership, Hilton will adopt a class of students from Taylor’s University School of Hospitality, Tourism & Culinary Arts (TCHT). The students, who will be selected by both Taylor’s and Hilton, will take specially-designed training sessions, workshops and seminars designed by Hilton. Additionally, the students will be given opportunities to attend four to six months of industrial trainings in various Hilton properties and potentially secure a job.
Students will be selected from three degree courses; Bachelor of International Hospitality Management, Bachelor of Tourism Management and Bachelor of Culinary Arts and Foodservice Management. The aim is to train provide Hilton with a source talent for its long-term recruitment plans.
The signatories of the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) at Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus, were Pradeep Nair, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Taylor’s University, and William Costley, Hilton Worldwide’s Vice President of Operations Southeast Asia, with Neethiahnanthan Ari Ragavan, Dean of TCHT, and Brendan Toomey, Hilton’s Vice President of Human Resources for Asia Pacific as witnesses.
