HK Express will soon launch its first direct flight between Hong Kong and Ishigaki, the resort island in Japan’s Okinawa prefecture.
The inaugural flight will take off on Sunday 16 June, and the low-cost carrier will now offer three weekly round-trip flights, every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, using its Airbus A320 aircraft.
“The interest and enthusiasm in Japan is just incredible, and we’re so pleased to be able to make this exquisite corner of the world more accessible than ever before,” said Andrew Cowen, director & CEO of HK Express.
“We have even more Japan routes debuting in July, including Takamatsu and Kagoshima, which our guests are incredibly excited about. Pre-ticket sales have been selling fast, and to keep up with demand we even added extra routes during the summer.”
Ishigaki becomes the LCC’s seventh destination in Japan, following Tokyo’s Narita and Haneda airports, Fukuoka, Osaka, Nagoya and Hiroshima. And as Cowan said, two more destinations will launch in next month, with flights to Takamatsu, on the island of Shikoku, launching on 6 July, and Kagoshima, Kyushu Island, commencing on 11 July.
