Travel packages to Hong Kong, Japan and Australia are likely to be the most sought after by travellers within Asia Pacific according to findings from the Visa and Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) “Determining Travel Preferences in 2009 and Beyond” survey.
Findings from the Visa and PATA travel survey found that nearly half (45%) of respondents from mainland China said Hong Kong is the most appealing destination for their international travel in the Year of the Ox. The majority of people from Taiwan (66%) and Hong Kong (54%) named Japan as their top choice, while 61% of Singaporeans intend to visit Australia.
Meranda Chan, Visa’s Country Manager for Singapore and Brunei, and PATA Board Director, said; “The extended holiday period is a tempting time for many to take a quick holiday abroad, and with travel and tourism operators offering so many good travel deals, the coming festive season is a great time to go to the places you most want to visit.
With the Lunar New Year approaching, Visa has partnered with leading tourism operators to provide packages to some of the region’s top travel destinations through its Visa Great Breaks website (www.visagreatbreaks.com).
“According to our survey, Hong Kong, Japan and Australia are key travel hotspots and with our own Visa Great Breaks travel website, Visa cardholders in the region can take advantage of some great deals to all three of those destinations,” Chan added.
