Visitors to Ireland from the Middle East grew by 9.5% last year, according to figures from Tourism Ireland.
A total of 28,000 Middle Eastern travellers visited the destination last year and visa applications for Ireland from the region have risen by 42% this year.
Tourism Ireland believes the surge in demand has come from visitors wanting somewhere different to go.
“In terms of Europe, Ireland is a great choice for its cool temperate climate, lush green landscapes, vibrant animated cities, quaint rural villages, splendid variety of accommodation options, renowned golf, and inspiring culture,” said Tourism Ireland spokesperson Aiveen Ryan.
