Job Description

Sales and Reservations Manager – Travel Start Up. A unique opportunity to join a travel start up who will be launching a highly sustainable and ethical tour operator offering both series and tailor made trips to the Indian Subcontinent region. You will ideally be based in the south east of England so are able to spend some time in a shared office in the London area but there will also be flexibility for remote working too. At this point they are yet to set up a UK entity so would be looking for someone happy to work with them on a freelance/self-employed basis, although as the team grows in the future, they would look to create this and the role can move over on to a PAYE/employee contract.

Sales and Reservation Manager Responsibilities

Joining at this pre-launch stage you will be involved with setting up the sales and reservations infrastructure, including the systems and processes. You will initially be the sole sales and reservations person so will also need to be happy on the phone to customers, responding to queries and making bookings, then once momentum is gained you will look to bring on new staff, grow the team, provide training and drive their performance.

You will be serving direct customers and travel trade partners as they are brought on, which will be from numerous global markets. You will also be involved with determining pricing and margins on the tours, liaising with the operations/delivery team when it comes to the tours and special requests.

Sales and Reservation Manager Skills Required

  • Previous experience of B2C sales/reservations in the travel industry, preferably in tour operating
  • Knowledge of the Indian Subcontinent region would be an advantage
  • Willingness to be hands on making bookings and responding to enquiries whilst capable of running a small team as the business grows
  • Knowledge of pricing and margin management
  • Experience in a start up or SME would be useful
