Jumeirah Messilah Beach Hotel & Spa recently attained the Green Globe certification in recognition for its sustainable practices.
Energy and water usage at the hotel is monitored on a continual basis and a three percent reduction target has been set.
General manager, Hakan Petek, said: “This certification reinforces our commitment to sustainability in Kuwait’s community. Our sustainability management plan encompasses four key areas: environment, corporate social responsibility, quality of economic wellbeing of the community and the health and safety of guests and stakeholders.”
In line with water reduction strategies, low flow aerators, motion sensors and dual flush toilets have been installed within specified areas of the hotel. Outside, drought resistant native plants such as cactus, cycas and palms are grown within the gardens and landscaped areas. An irrigation schedule for sprinklers is confined to designated hours and adjusted with change of seasons.
