The Kedarnath shrine located in the Uttarakhand will remain closed for at least a year.
Due to the flash floods in the state, the temple structure is safe; however the surroundings have been completely damaged. “Kedarnath shrine is safe but it is under a lot of slush. It will remain out of bounds for pilgrims for one year,” the state’s Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna was quoted by The Hindu.
Kedarnath is one of the four shrines visited by Hindu pilgrims during Chardham Yatra.
