Korean Air has continued to help victims of recent natural disasters in the Philippines, with the launch of its third home-building programme.
The airline has partnered with Habitat for Humanity Philippines (HFHP) to build shelters and offer assistance for local communities in northern Cebu province, which was devastated by Typhoon Hagupit in December 2014.
“As an international carrier, Korean Air recognises the importance to contribute and grow with the local communities that we serve and we are strongly committed to helping with relief efforts in times of need,” said Jong Wook Park, Korean Air’s regional manager in Cebu.
“Korean Air treasures this opportunity to engage our volunteers and utilise our resources to rebuild homes and restore hope for people suffering from natural disasters.
“We truly hope to extend our care and helping hand to underprivileged communities and we are eager to continue promoting sustainable developments across Southeast Asia through different local and global social responsibility initiatives,” Park added.
Korean Air has donated house repair kits to many affected families, which contain plywood, lumber, corrugated roofing sheets, iron sheets, assorted nails and tools. It has also arranged for skilled labourers to help build residents their new homes.
Korean Air launched its house-building programmes in the Philippines in October 2013, and has since helped communities in Quezon City and Cebu province.
