IGI and Incheon International Airport will share technological, commercial and environmental best practices through a new partnership scheme.
A sister airport agreement was recently signed by GMR Airports Holding (GAHL), which operates Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport as well as GHIAL in Hyderabad, and the Incheon International Airport Corporation.
“The objective of entering into ‘sister airport agreement’ is to build mutually cooperative and rewarding relationships among progressive airports. We see it as a stepping stone for the development of potential airports like New Delhi’s IGI Airport as international air transport hubs. It also helps expand air transport networks worldwide,” P S Nair, CEO of GMR Airports, told PTI.
Under the terms of the agreement, management teams will cooperate on airport operations and management, customer service, construction, planning, operations, information technology and sustainable development. The deal also lays foundations for joint training programmes between GMR Aviation Academy and Incheon Airport Aviation Academy. Expertise in airside operations, planning and safety management will also be exchanged in order to enhance safety at both airports.
