The hotel’s Artists in Residence exhibition is in celebration of the sixth annual Hong Kong Asian Film Festival which runs from 15 - 30 October 2009.
Items on display include a black and white photo of Buddhadev Dasgupta’s parents - Buffhadev is one of India’s undisputed legendary directors and the photo of his parents is carried close to his heart whenever filming and script-writing. China’s Zhao Ye has donated his goat skin gloves which got him through filming Jalainur in an inner Mongolian coal mine in -30? temperatures. Jalainur has gone on to be screened at more than 20 international film festivals and has won a multitude of accolades including Best Director at the Shanghai International Film Festival.

“We’re thrilled to be the official hotel,” says Katie. “Art in all forms is our foundation. Today we are one of the world’s largest collectors of contemporary Chinese art with more than 1,500 pieces on display throughout the hotel. It’s exciting for us to look beyond traditional interpretations of art with this directors’ exhibition.”
