LD Lines quicken journey from Portsmouth-Le Havre

The largest fast ferry between England and France will be introduced by LD Lines later this month.’Norman Arrow’ will operate on the Western Channel routes from Portsmouth to Le Havre for a six-month season beginning on 26 March. It will cut journey time from eight hours (night sailing) or five hours 20 minutes (day sailing) to just three hours and 15 minutes.The ferry will operate one return sailing daily departing Portsmouth at 0830 and arriving at Le Havre at 1245 local time. The return sailing will leave Le Havre at 1830 and arrive in Portsmouth at 2045 local time.”We are very confident that this new high speed ferry option on our well established Portsmouth – Le Havre service will be very popular with new and existing customers,” said LD Lines’ Managing Director, Christophe Santoni.”The new Norman Arrow sailings show a confidence in Portsmouth as a key gateway to France and many other European destinations,” added Portsmouth Commercial Port Manager, Martin Putman.The ferry will hold all tourist traffic including cars, caravans, motorhomes, motorcycles, coaches, foot passengers and freight vehicles.Developments around Portsmouth hope to allow easier access to the port, with a new terminal and the A3 Hindhead tunnel being completed by spring 2011.
