UK-base tour operator letsgo2.com has reported a surge in forward bookings for 2016 holiday packages from UK families in the wake of the APD tax reforms.
The company said that 50 percent of all long-haul enquiries from families in May and June this year related to 2016 departures.
Spencer Groves, head of Product & Marketing at letsgo2.com said: “The APD reforms earlier this year came in to effect too late for some families yet to book their 2015 summer holiday. Average flight prices to the Caribbean this year are now in the region of £3,000 for a family of four, so despite the tax changes, families are looking further ahead and booking 2016.
“Great offers remain for 2015 particularly to Barbados and Mexico but we urge the price-conscious to plan ahead for summer 2016, when APD will also be scrapped for under 16s, to secure the best prices on long-haul flights.”
