Lufthansa load factor drops in March

Lufthansa Group recorded a 5.3-percentage point decline in load factors in March, as the company’s traffic growth failed to keep pace with its expanded seat capacity. Group capacity increased 7.5% year-on-year last month, but sales saw a marginal 0.3% rise, pushing load factors down from 78.8% in March 2010 to 73.5% last month. German national carrier, Lufthansa experienced a 1.1% rise in demand, while SWISS sales increased 4.7% year-on-year. Austrian Airlines’ demand however, dipped 7.9%.
