Macau casino revenues soared to a record 10.33 billion patacas (US$1.28 billion) in January, a two-thirds increase from a year ago, the first time it has surpassed the 10 billion patacas mark.
The South China Morning Post reported that the January takings were 12% higher than the previous monthly record set during the holiday month of October last year.
It said data released by Macau’s statistics agency showed that the four casino-hotels - including the Venetian Macau which opened last year - pushed gaming revenues by almost 50% to 87.18 billion patacas in the 12 months to January.
