Major South American airlines get merger approval

Two of South America’s largest airlines, Chile-based LAN Airlines and Brazil’s TAM, have announced that their planned merger has been approved by an anti-trust court in Santiago. In a statement released today, the airlines said the court ruling marked a significant step in the completion of the transaction. Future plans will be announced at a later date.
