Malaysia’s national carrier Malaysia Airlines has reported its highest seat load in a decade in a series of results which give a very positive outlook for the company.
The news, which was revealed in the operator’s traffic and capacity figures for June, stated that load factor hit 84.3% for the month – a 7% year-on-year (y-o-y) increase.
The company also saw its total number of passengers carried increase by a third (33%) y-o-y and it also went on to record its busiest day at just over 59,000 passengers carried.
Overall the average daily passenger rate increased by 10,000 to around 47,000.
Interestingly the company’s passenger increase has risen sharper than its capacity growth – the group has added six Airbus A380s to its fleet, replacing the existing Boeing B747s and thus adding 38% capacity to the aircraft on the company’s books. However, even with the new planes, interest in the carrier has been far higher than in previous years.
The company put the increase down to a number of factors including the celebrations held for the Airbus A380s first anniversary. The aircraft has been serving London – Kuala Lumpur since July 2012.
