Malaysia Airlines (MAS) has formed a new partnership that will allow it to operate more charter flight to and from China.
The airline’s charter unit, Malaysia Airlines Haj & Charter, will start working together with Tianjin-based charter firm Ankeyunda to offer more charter flights from cities in mainland China to Kuala Lumpur, including second and third tier hubs.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed at KL’s Saujana Hotel.
“We are delighted to begin a partnership with Ankeyunda as this enables Malaysia Airlines to strengthen its presence in China. This makes good business sense as China is one of the biggest tourism markets in the world and we will be able to develop and operate in this region,” said MAS’ senior vice president of global sales & distribution, Duncan Bureau.
“We look forward to exploring the benefits and potential structure with Ankeyunda to provide air transportation between both countries,” he added.
The MoU will initially cover charter services between KL and 15 Chinese cities, including Xi’an, Harbin, Chongqing, Wuhan and Tianjin.
