Millennium Resort Musannah has a line of projects for expansion during 2014, affirmed general manager Maurice De Rooij. Online travel booking for the resort increased by 125% in 2013 and it is looking to further increase its online services by integrating social media.
During 2014, the resort will launch a spa and wellness centre, fitness club, signature ‘Azur’ restaurant, as well as a fully-equipped educational kids club to further enhance options available.
Rooij says traditionally, tourism to Oman from GCC centred around the Khareef season but with growth of international tourism and attractions in the Sultanate – such as leisure and business conferencing – we have seen steady increase in the popularity of the country. Significant investment in the sector has diversified the target markets and boosted visitor numbers. The redevelopment of Muscat International Airport, Salalah Airport and new airport in Duqm will further increase tourism to the country, both in terms of leisure and business tourists.
