MSC Cruises is to host an exclusive UK showcase party for its top-selling agents and the UK and Irish media on its new ship MSC Magnifica when it sails to Southampton Port on 26 February, 2010.
More than 2,000 trade and media are expected to attend the spectacular event, where guests will be treated to an all inclusive ‘paid for’ event with an open bar and the opportunity to experience the finest Italian cuisine, which will include a celebratory gala dinner, complete with celebrities and entertainment.
The showcase party is the first event to be held on MSC Magnifica, which is currently in STX Europe shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France being fitted. The decision to hold such an event in the UK came as a result of MSC Cruises UK and Ireland achieving such high growth rates in 2009.
Giulio Libutti, MSC Cruises’ UK and Ireland Managing Director said, “This is the perfect unique opportunity for agents and media to experience the excitement of a new ship and MSC Cruises new product right here in the UK. The trade are the key to promoting and selling our products and we are glad to be able to give something back to the industry to show our continued commitment and thanks as they continue to support us.”
Guests will participate in a specific programme of events, which will include information on all 2011 itineraries and witness the exchanging of the crest; an official ceremony to mark MSC Magnifica’s maiden port of call to Southampton, which will take place on Saturday 27 February.
MSC Magnifica will spend two days and nights in Southampton port before cruising to Hamburg for its official naming ceremony on 6 March, 2010. The pre launch party will be the first event to take place on MSC Magnifica.
MSC Magnifica is the fourth vessel to join the Musica Class, already comprising of MSC Poesia (named in Dover, UK, in 2008), MSC Orchestra (2007) and MSC Musica (2006) – each weighing 90,000 grt and carrying 3,000 guests.
Bookings are already being taken for MSC Magnifica’s 2010 sailings, which will see her cruise to the Eastern Mediterranean from the beautiful port of Venice on a seven night cruise, calling at Bari (Italy), Katakolon (Greece), Izmir (Turkey), Istanbul (Turkey) and Dubrovnik (Croatia) before returning to Venice (Italy). MSC Magnifica will be cruising this itinerary during the summer and winter season.
A ‘save the date’ invite will be sent via email to media and agents shortly.
