Norwegian Cruise Line can see continued growth in the UK market after the success of the Norwegian Getaway launch earlier this year.
Andy Stuart, EVP of global sales and passenger services at Norwegian spoke to Travel Daily ahead of his speech at CLIA’s Selling Cruise conference tomorrow and discussed the success of the launch of Norwegian Getaway with partners and customers in Southampton.
With many Getaway features now due to be rolled out across the fleet, Norwegian Cruise Line is confident the UK showcase and upgrade will see even more Brits on its ships.
“There are definitely more British people on our ships; it’s a very strong market for us and I think the freedom and flexibility of what we offer onboard really resonates with British customers. We see growth from this market,” he explained. “We were very pleased with the response from the launch programme for Norwegian Getaway, our partners were very appreciative to see that and it worked as a ‘virtuous triangle’ by having their customers on the ship with them.”
He shared how O’Sheehan’s has developed into an event venue due to its popularity and hence adding the new bar to other Norwegian ships in the next year.
“O’Sheehan’s as an event venue has become very popular, it’s something that is not really advertised to passengers so it’s always a surprise to them when they see what is going on there and it gets people excited,” Stuart explained.
During his speech tomorrow Stuart will share the cruise line’s turnaround in the last five years; its recent Norwegian NEXT fleet upgrade announcement and an update on US distribution trends.
