Premier Inn has announced a 6.1 percent increase in capacity in its final year results. The Whitbread-owned hotel chain had an average occupancy of 76.3 percent and the total number of nights sold has risen by 13.9 percent to 11 million. Commenting on Whitbread’s total figures chief executive Andy Harrison said “We anticipate that the outturn for the year will be in line with market expectations, demonstrating strong profit growth. Whilst it is premature to judge the trajectory of the UK consumer economy in 2011 we shall continue to invest in growing our strong brands.” Premier Inn aims to open 22 hotels this year, adding 2, 138 rooms to its bedbank.
