Bangkok, Thailand, January 2010 - As like previous years, the President Park Group of hotels & serviced apartments in partnership with Duang Prateep Foundation again brought in more than fifty underprivileged children aged between three to fourteen years old to present a repertoire of Christmas carols and a series of dance performances in five of its properties, namely Royal President, President Park, Grand President, President Solitaire and President Palace on 16, 17, 18, 21 & 22 December 2009 respectively.
The charity Christmas carols raised THB65,221 which will be contributed towards children’s education, stationery and food in the foundation. Funds were also raised through donation boxes, selling of handmade greetings cards, cash donation of THB5,000 from each property and scholarship drive throughout the month of December.
Kids were treated to an evening of fun with games; sumptuous Christmas dinner and each kid went home with Christmas gift sponsored by the property.
NEW PROJECT IN 2010 - TOY FOR FUNDS
Over the years, President Park Group supports the foundation with many fund raising and donation projects to support children’s education. In 2010, the Group will further support the foundation by buying their handmade Thai silk elephant soft toys. The toys are made by a group of elderly and children’s families who live in the Klong Toey slum and currently unemployed.
The foundation has a social club for elderly from the slum who meet every Wednesday for lunch, exercises, social activities and handicrafts. And, one of the handicrafts they made is the Thai silk elephant soft toy.
The adorable elephant comes in various attractive colours and style. It will be a birthday gift to all guests who stay in any of our property or as a souvenir for long-staying guests.
“Elephant is a symbol of Thai Nation, it is a perfect gift for our guests as it will remind them of the fond memories they had in Thailand and at the same time, we are offering a helping hand to the needy”, said Christopher Ow, General Manager of President Park Group.
Besides, this initiative will not only promote Thai handicraft products internationally but also help the foundation to generate more funds through developing new skills for the dwellers.
