Hundreds of rickshaw drivers have protested in Sulawesi’s largest city, Makassar, local media has reported. The drivers are unhappy about the limits imposed on them in terms of where they can operate. The Jakarta Post reported that the an increase in the number of motorised rickshaws in the city – around 9,000 at present – is putting pressure on operators, which are only permitted to ply their trade in limited areas of the city.
