Ryanair has announced new flights from Stansted Airport and Scotland, including a new base at Glasgow.
The new base at Glasgow International, the airline’s 69th, will see the carrier switch its Glasgow Prestwick-Dublin service to the airport, and bumped up to three times a day.
The base also sees new flights from Glasgow to Stansted which will also operate three times a day from October, while other new routes from Glasgow include Bydgoszcz, Derry, Riga, Warsaw Modlin and Wroclaw.
The airline will still offer seven routes from Glasgow Prestwick but is in talks with the Scottish Government (which owns the airport) over more.
New connections between London and Scotland also include a new route to/from Stansted and Edinburgh, also operating thrice daily.
Ryanair expects to fly more than 3.1 million passengers to and from Scottish airports a year.
“Ryanair is pleased to launch three new Scottish routes…in response to strong demand for Ryanair’s low fares from Scottish consumers and business customers, and increased competition between Scottish airports,” said the airline’s chief commercial officer David O’Brien. “Ryanair will also open a new base at Glasgow International this winter, with 7 new routes and will deliver more than 500,000 new customers through Scottish airports this year.”
