After spending two nights on the ship this week, Danielle Fear from CruiseMiss.com shares her thoughts on Norwegian Cruise Line’s new ship Norwegian Getaway.
With more than 25 dining options, a relaxing waterfront and the largest waterpark at sea, Norwegian Getaway needs to be seen to be believed.
Her décor in every area is tasteful, modern and incredibly stylish. She was built with a resort in mind and Norwegian Cruise Line has once again delivered a vessel that is quite simply top of its game. Everything about her is impressive, even down to the electric pink flavour of the mid-ship stairwell carpet. Every detail has been carefully thought out and executed and she really did stand tall and proud during her inaugural visit to Southampton this week.
You could relax and unwind in her beautiful atrium, even grab a cake from Carlo’s Bake Shop or you could start the evening early with a drink from the Sunset Bar on the Waterfront. The choice is endless.
The outer upper decks were an adventure seekers paradise. With five water slides and a rather impressive ropes course the entire family could have hours of fun here. The brave ones can even “walk the plank” several feet out across the side of the ship. In short it is a playground for both young and old.
The steak in Cagney’s was superb and I would also recommend a visit to O’Sheehan’s neighbourhood bar and grill. The Mozzarella sticks were rather tasty and the breakfast was very nice too.
Enjoy dinner and a show at the Illusionarium, by far one of the most impressive venues aboard any ship at sea and the show itself is fantastic. I highly recommend this but be sure to book your seat.
