Sichuan Airlines has launched a new trans-Pacific service to Los Angeles.

The new service, which commenced on 6 December 2016, will operate twice a week (Tuesdays and Saturdays) from Chengdu, with a stop in Jinan, the capital of China’s Shandong province, in both directions. The route marks Jinan’s first ever connection with the US.

The new flights will complement Sichuan Airlines existing twice weekly flights (Mondays and Thursdays) on the Chengdu-Hangzhou-LA route.

China Eastern also flies between Chengdu and LA, with a stop in Nanjing, and two Chinese carriers – Sichuan Airlines and Hainan Airlines – have applied for permission to operate direct flights between the two cities.

All of Sichuan Airlines’ trans-Pacific flights are operated using its 245-seat, two-class Airbus A330 aircraft.
