Online travel retailers Expedia and Viator are now offering customers the ability to search tours and hotels near historic sites. The websites have integrated tools used by Historvius which map landmarks around the world so users can see which options are closest to the sites. This will include recent Historvius updates including street view; country, city and theme guides and videos. “We understand that everyone has different priorities and interests when they travel and the chance to experience a piece of history is where the travel dream begins for many people,” said Ido Padani, director online partner marketing for Expedia. “Through this collaboration Expedia.co.uk can help travellers to plan their visit and find the right hotel to match their needs in just a couple of clicks”. In addition, Mike Lewis, CEO of Historvius said the system could be used after a hotel booking. “Not only can our users view which tours and hotels are near the sites they want to visit, but if they’ve already booked their hotel, they can plan an itinerary around it and book local tours, all things that help them create their perfect trip,” he explained.
