Sri Lanka’s southern coastal district of Hambantota has launched a new drive to draw more visitors in, Lanka Business Online reported.
The area is becoming well-known for wildlife, historical sites and a 150 kilometre stretch of beach. A promotional drive, ‘Deep South’, is being run by the Hambantota Chamber of Commerce.
Hambantota is the hometown of Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa, the report said, adding that work had already begun on a port, an international airport and transport lines.
